36 emails, nine markets, one voice
The hardest part of a personalized program is not the personalization. It is making three dozen variants still sound like one company.
The assignment
Nurture, convert, and retain across a portfolio of destinations that have nothing in common except the brand above them. Carmel does not sound like Key West. Neither sounds like Welk. But an owner who gets a Tahoe nurture email in March and a Sedona pre-arrival in June has to recognize the same company behind both.
Approach
Write to the segment, not the list. A Platinum owner three days from arrival and a cold halo lead do not get the same sentence. Every touch was tuned to property, ownership tier and days-to-arrival.
Read the report before the brief. The previous send has already told you what to change. Rewriting the pre-arrival journey against its own performance data — with the Lifecycle and Marketing Operations teams — is what produced the lift. Not a new idea. A better-informed one.
Write the layer nobody optimizes. Thank-you, receipt, booking confirmation, destination-credit reminders, cancellation. Transactional mail gets opened at rates a campaign send will never touch, and most programs waste it.
What I delivered
- Halo lead-nurture program — 36 emails across nine markets (Carmel, Colorado, Key West, Missouri, Piñon Pointe, San Antonio, Sirena del Mar, Tahoe, Welk), four touches each, with SMS extensions
- Pre-arrival journeys for Platinum Portfolio, Aspen, Northstar, Tahoe and legacy owners
- Second Chance activation — a six-email win-back sequence
- Discovery Package — brochure, card, and a five-email supporting sequence
- On-The-Go — a monthly program in three segment variants off one editorial spine
- Onboarding — New Platinum Owner sequence and Day-10 engagement sends
- Copy variants built for A/B testing, and roughly 100 landing pages as the click destination so the promise in the inbox matched the page
